Background

The Scottish Creative Awards are the most prestigious awards for creatives in the country.  Open to any advertising, digital or design agency in Scotland or agencies who have done great work for a Scottish client.

The awards are the succession of the Scottish Advertising Awards and have been awarding top creative work since 1997. Any creative work or strategy/campaigns that have been done over the previous year are eligible for entry. All entries will be judged by a top panel of seasoned creatives who will go on to compile the shortlist and award winners.

Previous winners over the years have included Whitespace, Axis Animation, Story, APS Group, Stand, purple TV, RRD Creative, Pocket Rocket, FREAK Films, Various Creative, Frame, Tricker PR, Material, Leith and many many more…

Who Can Enter?

Entries are open to all advertising agencies, design consultancies, digital agencies, direct mail companies, production companies, marketing agencies, PR consultancies, in-house creative teams, in-house marketing teams and media agencies. 

Entrants must either be based in Scotland OR be entering work done for a Scottish client.

To be eligible for this year, the work must have been carried out between 22 July 2017 and 21 July 2017.

How Do I Enter?

 

How to Enter your Creative Work:

  • Decide on all relevant categories for the work you would like to enter
     
  • Upload images of the work. Upload your main image in the first box (at least one image must be uploaded for us to represent your work on the website and in the awards show should you be nominated). Please note:  The images you display here will go live on the in the event of you being nominated so DO NOT include any sensitive material!
     
  • The summary is roughly 200 words on the basic thought process behind your entry. YOU WILL NOT BE JUDGED ON THIS. It is some basic background for the judges if they are stuck on the details of an entry. ***Please print the summary on the board***
     
  • Please note: You will only receive the 2nd entry rate discount if you enter all of your entries at one. Otherwise you will be charged the full amount each time. Leave your entries in your basket until you are sure they are all complete.
     
  • Once you are ready ‘submit and pay’ and proceed to the payment section of the website.
     
  • Once online payment has been received, a confirmation e-mail will be sent to the e-mail address that you registered with.
     
  • Please post your mounted boards with the entered work to:

Boards/Samples should be sent for Press, Print, Outdoor, Design, Craft and miscellaneous categories.

So that we can easily identify your boards, please complete one copy of the ENTRY FORM (last page in the ENTRY PACK) for each entry and loosely attach it to the relevant board/sample. DO NOT GLUE (Blu-tak is preferable).

Submission Formats

Submissions for both creative and creative strategy categories should be entered online. The notes below will give you a better understanding of what should be entered in relation to different categories.

Press
Complete online entry form, upload at least one jpeg image (no more than 10Mb) and pay online. Send mounted artwork on a maximum size of A2 board to the address listed in ‘How to Enter’.

Radio
Complete online entry form, upload at least one jpeg image (no more than 10Mb) of campaign or client/ company logo, upload radio audio in MP3 format and upload script in PDF or Word format (no more than 10Mb). Pay online.

Television/ Cinema
Complete online entry form, upload at least one jpeg image (no more than 10Mb) of campaign or client/company logo, supply embed code of where advert is currently available to view. Pay online.

Outdoor
Complete online entry form, upload at least one jpeg image (no more than 10Mb) and pay online. Send mounted artwork on a maximum size of A2 board to the address listed in ‘How to Enter’

Direct Mail  
Complete online entry form, upload at least one jpeg image (no more than 10Mb) and pay online. Send mounted artwork on a maximum size of A2 board to the address listed in ‘How to Enter’ or preferably send a sample of entered work.

Digital
Complete online entry form, upload at least one jpeg image (no more than 10Mb) of entered work, can be a screen grab. Enter URL in text box and any passwords that judges may need to access website, app, e-mailer or online film. Pay online.

Craft
Complete online entry form, upload at least one jpeg image (no more than 10Mb) and pay online. Send mounted artwork on a maximum size of A2 board to the address listed in ‘How to Enter’ or if relevant send a sample of entered work.

Design
Complete online entry form, upload at least one jpeg image (no more than 10Mb) and pay online. Send mounted artwork on a maximum size of A2 board to the address listed in ‘How to Enter’ or if relevant send a sample of entered work.

Ambient Media/ Stunts  
Complete online entry form, upload at least one jpeg image (no more than 10Mb) and pay online. Send mounted artwork of entry in situ on a maximum size of A2 board to the address listed in ‘How to Enter’

Most Creative Use of Media
Complete online entry form, upload at least one jpeg image (no more than 10Mb) and upload 200 words brief in either PDF or Word format explaining the media used and how it was creative. Pay online. Send mounted artwork on a maximum size of A2 board to the address listed in ‘How to Enter’

Creative Strategy
Complete online entry form, upload at least one jpeg image (no more than 10Mb), upload any audio files (MP3), for TV/Cinema adverts please provide embed code of where advert is currently available to view. Upload report** in either PDF or Word format. Pay online.

**What to Include in Your Report

  • Discuss what the initial brief was from the client and the client’s market position before creative concept was developed.
  • Detail how the concept was creative.
  • Discuss how the creative fitted with the clients overall marketing strategy.
  • Detail the results that were produced as a result of the creative campaign.

Writing Your Report

  • Please write one report for each individual entry. The main report should not exceed 1000 words and must include a brief executive summary.
  • Bullet points, graphs and tables can be used within report.
  • Client testimonials may be included.

Submitting Your Report

  • All reports have to be submitted in either Word or PDF format and uploaded through the website www.scottishcreativeawards. com. The ‘How to Enter’ section provides more details on what to do when you are ready to submit.
  • All entries must include at least one jpeg image of entered work.

Entry Rules

  • All work entered into Creative categories must have been published, broadcast, mailed, displayed or have went live between 22 July 2016 and 21 July 2017.
     
  • All submissions must be completed online (even if sending physical entries).
     
  • Judging will be anonymous so please ensure no company branding is on entries unless essential (e.g self-promotion or entering as an in-house team).
     
  • Work entered into more than one category must be treated as a separate entry and a fee will apply.
     
  • All entries must be supplied in the specification stated in submission formats.
     
  • All physical entries that are being sent to the Glasgow postal address must include a printed entry form.
     
  • The judges reserve the right to re-allocate entries.
     
  • The organisers reserve the right to verify that all entries have been commercially produced for a client. Proof of publication or transmission may be requested.
     
  • No feedback will be given regarding judges decisions
     
  • Judges decision is final.
     
  • Entries cannot be returned.
     
  • The organisers will not accept responsibility for loss or damage of entries however every care will be taken in the storage of entries.
     
  • All entries submitted should conform to the British Codes of Advertising and Sales Promotion. Any entry that has a complaint upheld against it by the ASA will be disqualified.

How much does it cost to enter?

£135 + VAT for your first entry

£75 + VAT for additional entries
